At Southside Performance Horses, LLC Colt Starting is taken with a very gentle hand to help keep your horse calm, quiet, and thinking instead of reacting. When looking for a trainer to start your horse, you want someone who is going to pay attention to them to know when they are ready to advance to the next step. You want to be able to take them home, to get on, and continue helping them learn and grow with you. That's what we offer here - the basic goal we have for a horse in for one month is that they will walk, jog, lope on both leads, stop, and back in a calm, controlled manner all outside of a pen. They won't be perfect, but the goal is that they are calm, trying, and have an idea of what you're after.

We work with a wide range of different breeds/horses, however they must be at least two-years-old or older for us to start them. The minimum duration for a horse to be started with us is 1 month, unless the horse has had very minimal to no handling in which case the minimum stay would be two months.
